Philadelphia was a most welcoming host for the 2011 AORN. Mobile Instrument staffers hit the ground running on our return from the City of Brotherly Love – to contact those of you that requested information and to run off the Philly cheesesteaks that we just couldn’t resist!

The AORN is the largest show we attend throughout the year and was once again our show season opener. After the long winter we always look forward to getting out and talking about Mobile Instrument and all of the services we provide. We enjoyed meeting you whether you stopped by our booth, sat next to us on the shuttle bus or shared a spot in line at the Reading Terminal Market waiting to grab some lunch.

Many of you were drawn like magnets to the display cases holding the beautiful gemstone jewelry, featured again this year as our drawing prize. As with last year, the jewelry was again wildly popular! And win or lose, everyone had a wonderful time just watching as the winners made the sometimes very difficult decision of which piece to take home.

Out of 17 winners, 14 came back by the booth, allowing them to choose their favorite piece of bling and us to snap their picture! Mobile Instrument Service is proud to feature the 2011 winners:

Our Mobile Instrument staff is back from AORN 2010 Congress in Denver, CO! AORN is always a highlight of the tradeshow season, and this year was no different. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to get out there, and get to meet so many OR nurses! We always appreciate everyone who stops by to ask questions, get information about the company, or just say hello. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by at this year’s Congress, be sure to come visit next spring!

This year, we debuted a gemstone jewelry giveaway at the booth (from Mobile Instrument, your “gem” of a repair company!), and it was a huge hit. We certainly had fun watching registrants oohing and ahhing over the jewelry pieces, not to mention the winners who were present picking out their favorite piece of jewelry!

Mobile Instrument is proud to announce our baker’s dozen of Lucky 13 gemstone jewelry winners:

Electrosurgical Instrument Insulation Tester for the Operating Room

You will prevent patient burns in the Operating Room when you use InsulScan™

Insulation failure is a reality. A microscopic pinhole in the insulation of an electrosurgical instrument will allow up to 100% of the electric current to escape and assault the tissue surrounding the surgical site. This results in patient burns, latent infections, and extended recovery times. Even single use instruments commonly reveal evidence of defective insulation.

With InsulScan™ in the O.R., this is a risk no surgeon or hospital must ever take again.

A quick check of the insulated instruments with InsulScan™ immediately prior to the case will expose any defective instruments so they can be removed and reinsulated. One last scan post-operatively will confirm for the patient’s surgical chart that no defects occurred during surgery.

Tests instruments before and after the case right in the operating room.

Wands are individually sterile wrapped and disposable to prevent cross contamination.

Reduces liability exposure for surgeon and hospital

Checks both disposable and reusable instruments.

Complies with AORN and ECRI recommendations.

Self Validating

CE certified

“. . . with liability risks for instrument malfunction equal to those for surgeon error, it would be prudent for hospitals to ensure that they have an adequate system in place for maintaining equipment and testing it for insulation degradation.
